Captain Nicholas Kaempffer recently celebrated the promotion to his current rank at Camp Blackhorse., east of Kabul.
Captain Kaempffer, 29, is an artillery officer and a member of the officer training brigade advisory team deployed as part of the 900-member contingent of Canadian troops on Operation Attention, Canada’s participation in the NATO training mission in Afghanistan.
The goal of the operation is to deliver training and professional development support to the national security forces of Afghanistan.
“It is an honour to work alongside the Afghan National Army, as they continue to develop their capabilities in order to provide safety and security for the citizens of Afghanistan,” Kaempffer said.
This is the first deployment overseas for the graduate of both Parkside High School and Queen’s University. Captain Kaempffer serves with W Battery as a loyal gunner at the Royal Canadian Artillery School, based out of CFB Gagetown, NB.
