Dundas Blues goalie Mark Sinclair, the Niagara District Junior C hockey league’s east division rookie of the year, made 36 saves to help lead Dundas to a 2-1 win over Chippawa Riverhawks – and a three games to none lead in their first round playoff series, Thursday night.
The two teams come to Dundas’ J.L. Grightmire Arena Sunday afternoon, with a chance for the Blues to close out the series with a four game sweep.
Dundas’ Matt Charbonneau broke a scoreless tie with just over six minutes left in the opening period. Brett Dell and Josh Wiley provided assists.
Chippawa responded less than a minute later to tie the match heading into the first intermission.
Derek Searle found the net on a Dundas power play, assisted by Charbonneau and Nick McMullen, to give the Blues all the room they would need in the one goal victory.
Dundas controlled play in the scoreless third, firing 14 shots on net, while holding Chippawa to just seven shots on Sinclair.
Game four goes in Dundas this Sunday, Feb. 10, at 3:45 p.m. All minor hockey players wearing their team jersey and accompanied by an adult get in for free.
