Athlete Beth Shearer, 31, returned from the Special Olympics National Summer Games in Vancouver earlier this month with a gold and silver medal. Shearer finished first in the 200-metre IM and second in the 200-metre backstroke. The veteran swimmer has participated in regional, provincial and national events for almost 20 years. An Ancaster resident, Shearer swims with the Dundas Seahawks at the Dundas pool. Club teammates Robert Duke earned a silver 100-metre freestyle and a bronze in 200-metre IM, while Chuck Restivo collected a bronze medal in 100-metre freestyle.
