Ancaster garage fire damage estimated at nearly $1 million

Damage is estimated at nearly $1 million and one worker was treated for smoke inhalation by paramedics following a multiple alarm fire at a Ministry of Transportation storage garage for snowplows and sanders in Ancaster early Saturday.

Safety officer Dave Christopher said Hamilton firefighters responded to an alarm at the 1389 Wilson St. W. garage at about 4:45 a.m. and found one of the road maintenance vehicles already fully engulfed in flames.

The cause of the fire has yet to be determined, but the Ontario Fire Marshal has been called in to investigate because it occurred on a provincially owned property, he said.
