Ancaster food drive nets 82,500 pounds

The Ancaster Community Food Drive once again reached its goal by collecting 82,500 pounds of food and $6,500 in cash.

Over its 21-year history, the food drive has collected 1,203,000 pounds of food and $63,500 for social service agencies in Hamilton.

Ancaster Community Services receives the cash donations while food items are distributed to seven food banks throughout the city.

More than 400 volunteers canvassed 12,000 Ancaster households on Saturday and sorted donations at St. John’s parish hall.
