Ancaster Avalanche open 2014 Golden Horseshoe Conference hockey season tonight

Hockey Night in Ancaster returns tonight, Aug. 26, when the Ancaster Avalanche  plays its first Golden Horseshoe Conference pre-season Junior B game against Brampton Bombers at Morgan Firestone Arena at 7 p.m.

Over the weekend, the Avs gained a split at the St. Catharines Junior B Showcase Tournament, losing 3-2  to St. Catharines Falcons and defeating the Thorold Blackhawks 6-4. Connor MacTaggart scored three  times against the Blackhawks.

Ancaster plays its second pre-season in Guelph on Friday, Aug. 29 before  returning home for a second match against Guelph on Thursday, Sept. 4 at  7:30 p.m.  On Saturday, Sept. 6, the Avs will play their final pre-season game in Brampton at 3:30 p.m.

On Sept. 13 7:30 p.m., the Avs open the home  schedule by hosting the Niagara Falls Canucks, a day after 2013-14 GHC  Coach of the Year Ryan Kuwabara guides the team into its season opener against the Pelham Pirates  in Pelham.

Season tickets are on sale now, $100 for adults, $50 for children, students and seniors and a special offer to Ancaster Minor Hockey and Figure Skating participants, $20.
