Adames leaves Hamilton for Niagara

 David Adames is on the move again.

The President and Chief Executive Officer will become the Niagara Falls-based Niagara Parks Commission’s senior director of business development starting March 8.

“This new position provides me with the opportunity to expand my professional experience,” Adames said in a statement. “It has been my honour to serve in this role and I have enjoyed working with the board, divisions, committees, and the membership at large.”

Adames took over as chamber president in July 2011 after a 20-year career at the city ofHamilton. From 2002 he was executive director of Tourism Hamilton, and previously he worked in recreation and culture, and corporate communications for 11 years.

Adames, a Hamilton native, andMcMasterUniversitygraduate, became the point person in making bids for the city to host two Commonwealth Games, and he was involved in landing the 2003 world cycling championships. He was also involved in the ultimately successful Pan Am games bid.

Louise Dompierre, chair of the board, stated it will become searching  immediately for a replacement.

Former chair of the Hamilton Chamber Board Richard Koroscil will take over as president and CEO on an interim basis.
