Dartnall done, Rymal next

Hamilton Mountain News

The recently completed extension of Dartnall Road is just the first step of two-phase plan to help traffic in and out of the growing industrial area south of Rymal Road East.

The upcoming expansion of Rymal Road East will also help.

The $3-million extension of Dartnall to Twenty Road now provides a direct transportation corridor from the Lincoln Alexander Parkway and Red Hill Valley Parkway to the growing Red Hill business park, said east Mountain councillor Tom Jackson.

The work on Dartnall will reduce the number of trucks using Glover Road, which was not designed for industrial traffic, says Jackson.

Further extension of Dartnall to Dickenson Road is in the city’s transportation master plan. The current plan is for it to curve southeasterly and merge with Nebo Road before intersecting and connecting to Dickenson. Work could be done in the next three to six years.

Rymal Road East is being expanded to five lanes between Nebo and Bishop Ryan high school. That work, which includes new water main and sewers, could begin this month.

Jackson said part of the project includes building a multi-use recreational trail on the north side and sidewalks along part of the south side.
