Kingsview Community Church is holding its annual Canada Day celebration on Tuesday.
The free event begins at 7 p.m. at 1267 Paramount Dr. and will feature activities, games, music and refreshments. It will conclude with a 20-minute fireworks display at dusk.
The church began hosting a Canada Day celebration six years ago.
More than 1,400 people attended the event last year.
“We started doing this event to become a more active part of our local community by serving our neighbours and giving back to the community,” lead pastor Jeffrey Johnston said. “We wanted to provide families from our community an opportunity to come together with each other and enjoy a safe, great evening of fun, games and food as we celebrate our great nation’s birthday.”
The church is the primary sponsor of the event.
The event also is made possible through a grant from the Canadian Heritage department, additional donations received within the congregation and about 75 volunteers.
