Sama Al-Ani put her creativity to the test to become one of 10 finalists in World Literacy Canada’s Write for a Better World writing contest.
Sama, an 11-year-old Sir William Osler student, crafted a story about a girl who toured the exotic Moroccan city of Casablanca, sampled its delicious cuisine and learned about its rich history — all while reading a guidebook and falling asleep on an plane.
Write for a Better World, sponsored by TD Bank, encourages students in Grades 5-8 to use their imaginations and creative writing skills to promote the values of global citizenship. More than 1,000 stories were received from across the country.
The top 10 winning entries were hand-picked by New York Time best-selling Canadian author Kelley Armstrong.
