Ancaster News

Hamilton Community News editorial pages have been recognized as being among the best in Canada.

On March 27, the Canadian Community Newspapers Association (CCNA) announced its list of winners for its 2013 Better Newspapers Competition which included a pair of awards for our newspapers.

The Dundas Star News took home top prize for its Editorial Page in its circulation class (12,000–24,999) based on two randomly selected editions from January and August 2013.

Kevin Werner took home second place in the National Editorial writing category for a piece he wrote “Brave new world?” which ran on Aug. 29. The editorial dealt with the increasing prevalence of electronic surveillance in Canada.

The awards will be presented at a gala at the Newspapers Canada convention in Charlottetown in May.

Judges comments were not released with the list of the winners.
