Media advisory committee seeks community reps

The Hamilton Media Advisory Committee is seeking members of the community who would like to advise it on issues of race and diversity.

Comprising 12 community and six media representatives, the committee is committed to the values expressed in the vision statement of Strengthening Hamilton’s Community initiative.

It represents a broad spectrum of community leaders and advocates who share a long term goal of a more inclusive community, using an anti-racism perspective in all processes.

HMAC seeks resident members who reflect the racial, religious, ethnic, and cultural diversity of our community.

Desired attributes include: strong community service orientation and respect of the community represented; a commitment to anti-racism, equality and justice; innovative thinking, initiative and strong leadership skills; an ability to commit to a two-year term.

HMAC's media partners include Hamilton Community News, the Hamilton Spectator, Cable 14, CHCH, CHML and the CBC.

Interested community members are asked to complete the attached application form by April 11 and email it to or drop it off at the Hamilton Spectator, 44 Frid St., Hamilton. Applications must be clearly labeled Hamilton Media Advisory Council.

Selected candidates will be asked to attend a panel interview.
