A free camp for bereaved children and teenagers is has openings for this summer’s edition.
Camp Erin Hamilton, a partnership between the Dr. Bob Kemp Hospice, Bereaved Families of Ontario (Burlington/Hamilton) and The Moyer Foundation, is a free bereavement camp for children and teenagers ages 6 to 17.
Campers participate in fun, traditional camp activities combined with grief education and emotional support, led by bereavement professionals and trained volunteers.
It is run at Camp Wenonah near Bracebridge, Ont.
The inaugural one was attended by 43 children; this year organizers are hoping to help 60.
The 2014 edition runs May 30-June 1.
There is also a need for male volunteers 18 and older to attend camp to be cabin buddies with the campers.
