Project Eyebrow is watching

Police initiative focuses on Mountain brow parks and parking areas

 By Mark Newman, News Staff

Hamilton police are paying particular attention to parks and parking lots along the Mountain brow.

According to acting sergeant Stephen Whalen, one of the Division 3 crime managers, Project Eyebrow began last earlier this month and runs to the end of April.

“Anyone using those areas for drugs or drinking or loitering or stuff like that,” said Whalen, who noted the special enforcement, which is also known as a problem oriented police or POP project, will see uniform patrol and plain clothes officers watching for suspicious activity along the Mountain brow from Scenic Drive to the Mount Albion area day and night.

While police are not currently dealing with any major problems along the Mountain brow, Whalen said the initiative should act as a deterrent to anyone wishing to use the parks and parking lots for illegal purposes

Whalen said police made three drug-related arrests at Sam Lawrence Park earlier this month as part of Project Eyebrow.
