Volleyball teams hit the court running for 2014

The Mountain Volleyball Club had a strong start after the holiday break with the Under 13 Black and Under 14 Black teams winning  gold and bronze medals, respectively.

The Under 13 Black won gold at the Challenge Cup -Trillium in St. Catharines.After clinching first place in pool play in straight sets, the team defeated Waterloo Tigers, Niagara Rapids, the Under 13 Maroon  team, Burlington Blaze and Guelph Grizzlies to win gold. The team is coached by Peter Stratford, Christine Kalata and Kaitlin Mattiozzi. Athletes include Taite Cleland, Sarah Treffry, Natalie Ogrodnik and Meira Morphet of Ancaster, along with  Mairin Clarke, Sophie Hollingshead, Emily Keeting, Ella Carter, Alexie Chevrier and Samantha Honaizer. 

The MVC 13U Maroon team defeated the Niagara Rapids 25-21, 25-13 to finish 7th overall in the same tournament. The 13U Maroon team is coached by Denis Levesque, Meaghan  Quennell and Wally Verschoor.

The Under 14 Black team played up an age division and won the bronze medal at the Challenge Cup - Trillium in Hamilton. The team is coached by Peter Stratford and Kristin Kawamoto. Athletes include Megan Richer and Scarlett Windich of Dundas, along with Elisa Mejia, Khloe Mattiozzi, Megan Grosso, Karmen Krug, Christina Stratford, Felicia Malavolta, Taylor Morrison and Grace Heath.
