With Joe Koudys and TJ Sakaluk leading the way, the Dundas Real McCoys rolled to their 10th consecutive victory with an easy 10-3 win over the Stoney Creek Generals in Allan Cup Hockey action last Friday night at J.L. Grightmire Arena.
The victory put Dundas in second place with 20 points, three behind Brantford and two in front of third-place Whitby Dunlops. The Blast has a record of 11 wins, two losses and a shootout loss while the McCoys are 10-2-0-0 on the season.
The next action for Dundas is Friday, Jan. 10, when they host Welland Whalers at 7:30 p.m.
“We knew this was going to be a big game for us coming out of the holidays,” said director of hockey operations and assistant coach Ron Bernacci. “The last time we played them, we needed overtime to get the win (Dundas 5-4 on Dec. 15).
“We were missing several players because of suspensions or other circumstances, however, with the addition of Jason Ward, and some strong defensive play, we were able to come away with two points.”
Mike Mole was strong in goal, turning away 39 shots. Mole is leading the league in wins with eight.
Koudys and TJ Sakaluk connected for two goals and two assists each, while Justin Davis added a goal and two assists. Cam Watson and Dan Pitre, with a goal and an assist each, and Ward, Simon Mangos and Steve Hurst with single goals, completed the Dundas scoring. Scott Stafford, Frankie Grandits, Jerry Galway and Scott Mifsud set up two scoring plays apiece.
Mifsud is third in Allan Cup scoring with 24 points, while Watson is sixth with 20.
