Stoney Creek driver blows double the limit after fender-bender

A 33-year-old Stoney Creek man faces drunk-driving and pot possession charges following a collision at the corner of Lake Avenue North and Barton Street on Sunday evening.

Sgt. Terri-Lynn Collings said a Hamilton police officer who responded to the 6:30 p.m. mishap spoke to both drivers and one was arrested after failing a roadside breath test.

The driver blew double the legal limit on breathalyzer tests at the police station and police found a small amount of marijuana in his car.

Three times the limit

A 53-year-old Hamilton man will appear in court on two drunk-driving charges after blowing nearly three times the legal limit in breath tests on Saturday night.

Collings said police were called about a suspected impaired driver in a parking lot by Eastgate Square and arrested him when he showed signs of inebriation.

He is charged with impaired driving and driving with more than 80 mg alcohol per 100 ml of blood.

A 48-year-old man is charged with driving over 80 mg. after his speeding car was stopped near the corner of Greenhill Avenue and King Street at 3:30 a.m. on Saturday.

He failed a roadside breath test and blew over the limit in breathalyzer tests at the police station.

A 47-year-old Stoney Creek man is charged with impaired driving and refusing to take a breath test faces after drawing attention on the Lincoln Alexander Parkway and going on a joyride in a parking lot.

A witness called Hamilton police just before midnight on Nov. 29 to report that a westbound vehicle on the Linc was weaving in his lane and nearly hit a guardrail.

Police located the driver as he was driving in circles in a Meadowlands parking lot and arrested him.
