Major Atom Blues win Three Rivers Cup

The Allanholme Farms Dundas Major Atom Blues participated in the Three Rivers Cup Tournament in Pittsburgh last weekend.

In their first game, the Blues defeated Ted Reeve Thunder from Toronto 7-6. Carson Gregory had a hat trick and Justin Contant scored two goals. Michael Dittrich and Owen Vander Velde added singles. Daniel Hagen had three assists. Matt Nero, Zack Hagen, Daniel Hagen, Tanner Baker and Daniel Neiterman got the other assists.

The Blues then beat Geauga Maple Leafs from Ohio 7-0. Dittrich had two goals, while James Newbold, Contant, Hagen, Matt Dredge and Vander Velde had singles. Adam Pansegrau was in net for the shootout.

The Blues then faced Hamilton Spitfires in the gold medal game. The Blues fell behind 1-0, however were able to come back and win the gold medal from goals by Dittrich, Newbold, Gregory and Trevor Goodes. Vander Velde had two assists while Grady Carson and Zach Hagen had one each. Goalies Hayden Clarke and Pansegrau had great game. Dittrich was voted an MVP of the tournament for the Blues.

Nathan Preston and Daniel Crowe played well and provided steady defence.
