Ronald McDonald House Hamilton joined forces with Dalton Timmis Insurance in submitting an idea to the Aviva Community Fund 2012 contest. The nationwide contest, which opened on Oct. 1 runs until Jan 24,.
Aviva will be dividing and giving out $1 million to community ideas across Canada.
Ronald McDonald House Hamilton recently re-opened its doors to families with sick children having upgraded their facilities from 15 to 40 bedrooms, adding a professional kitchen, play areas for the children, an exercise room, a small theatre, and nooks for families to spend time together. A major area which was not included in the renovation is the outdoor space behind the facility.
Ronald McDonald House Hamilton teamed up with Dalton Timmis Insurance and S. Robelo Landscapes Inc. to design and submit the project to the Aviva contest in hopes of winning funding up to $150,000 to complete the project.
The Serenity Garden will include an outdoor prep kitchen, patio seating, lighting and sound systems, a vegetable and herb garden, a water feature, private seating areas, a man-made natural play area, and a pavilion for families to spend time doing activities outdoors.
