Ancaster Junior golfer Josh Montgomery finishes third at Timberwolf Golf Course

Ancaster News

Seventeen-year-old Ancaster resident Josh Montgomery tied for third place at the Ontario Junior Boys Championship last week in Sudbury.

One hundred and fifty-two golfers qualified from across the province to play at Timberwolf Golf Course for four days of competition.  Approximately sixty golfers made it through a two-day cut.

Montgomery carded a 77 on round one, and it was all up hill from there.  He went 77-71-74 and then finished strong with the second lowest round of the day – a 69.  Montgomery’s round of 69 brought him from starting the day tied for eighth to finishing in a three-way tie for third. Montgomery will now compete in the Canadian Junior Boys Championship in Niagara Falls July 29 to Aug. 1.

Montgomery is a Clublink player, playing mostly out of Heron Point and has been part of Oak Gables Junior Development program for the past three years.  Five golfers from the Oak Gables team qualified for the provincial championship this year.
