The Cootes Paradise Boardwalk Build will take place on Dec. 1 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Meet at the Aviary.
McMaster Outdoor Recreation and the Royal Botanical Gardens have partnered with Councillor Brian McHattie in a fundraising effort to build a boardwalk along the Caleb’s Walk Trail in Cootes Paradise. The boardwalk will provide a safe, enjoyable hike, and as part of fundraising efforts, organizers will be replacing local plants that have been destroyed by the damaged trail.
Community members are invited to join the build on Dec. 1. About 40 volunteers are needed. To volunteer, email firstname.lastname@example.org. If you are not up for the build, organizers are having a board sale, where a board can be purchased for $10 and a name engraved onto it as a lasting reminder of support and contributions. Proceeds will go to fund the project, as well as towards stewardship costs for the Royal Botanical Gardens.
To purchase your board, visit Bryan Prince Booksellers in Westdale Village, cash and cheque only, or visit the David Braley Athletics Center on the McMaster Campus, 905-525-9140, Ext 24464.
