Record-breaking year for Halloween food bank event

Stoney Creek News

I wanted to take this opportunity to thank the public yet again for their generosity and for their continued support for the fourth Annual Halloween Food Drive, which was held in Stoney Creek. The food drive was sponsored by the Knights of Columbus Council 7969.

With the help of generous donors, we were able to break last year’s record and collect 978 pounds of much-needed food, which will go to the Stoney Creek Community Food Bank.

Although the rain was a hindrance this year, the Halloween display was still a success and enjoyed by many who came out to see it.  A special thanks goes to Fortinos Fiesta Mall, M&G Foods and Shoppers Drug Mart and the Beer Store(all on Highway 8 in Stoney Creek), The King of Signs and Canada Post (Winona, and the staff of Handling Specialty (Grimsby) for their generous donations.

Also, thank you to family, friends and helpful neighbours in helping out with the Halloween display.

Hopefully the weather holds up next year as we look forward to another successful Halloween display and food drive in 2013.
