Just over a month ago, the Muslim world was ignited by a defamatory video against Islam’s holiest prophet, Muhammad.
The Prophet is revered by the world’s 1.8 billion Muslims as the last prophet of God in the Abrahamic lineage and received the final revelation called the Qur’an.
As a result of the amateurish video, hundreds of people worldwide died in protests and clashes.
The Muslim Council of Greater Hamilton (MCGH), a coalition of Hamilton area mosques and community organizations, identified a general lack of awareness of who the Prophet Muhammad was.
“We need to combat ignorance with knowledge,” said Dr. Raza Khan, task force chair for MCGH. “We are holding a week-long celebration of the life of Prophet Muhammad entitled Inspired by Muhammad (peace be upon him) to give everyone an idea of who he really was.”
The event begins on Nov. 5 and continues to Nov. 15.
Seven organizations, including the Sydenham United Church in Brantford, are involved in the project.
There will be an event at a different mosque each day and each event will include a short talk along with a poster gallery display, audio-visual presentation, information brochures and book sale.
