Cardinals down Braves

Hamilton Mountain News

Blake Strawn scored what turned out to be the winning touchdown on a two-yard run in the third quarter to lead the Cardinal Newman Cardinals to a 15-14 win over the St. Jean de Brebeuf Braves in Hamilton Catholic high school senior football action Friday afternoon.

The game was played at Cardinal Newman.

Dan Peterman scored a second quarter touchdown when he took a pass from Newman quarterback Jake Marquette and ran it 40 yards to the end zone.

Peterman also kicked two single point converts after both Newman touchdowns and his 35-yard field goal attempt in the first quarter sailed wide for a single point.

Anthony Sarelli scored a first quarter touchdown for Brebeuf off a blocked punt.

Nick Hinds added a major on a 54-yard run in the fourth quarter.

The TD was followed by a two-point convert run by Steve McNicholl.
