Hamilton Mountain News

It should come as no surprise that NDP Leader Andrea Horwath has won her home riding of Hamilton Centre.

As of 10:05 p.m. Horwath has captured 52.6 per cent of the vote, 7,829 votes ahead of her nearest competitor Liberal Donna Tiqui-Shebib who is polling at 23.3 per cent. PC John Vail is currently in third with 14.5 per cent followed by the Green Party’s Peter Ormond at 8 per cent, Freedom Party of Ontario’s Peter Melanson is  at 1 per cent and Communist Bob Mann is at 0.7 per cent.

Horwath handily won the riding in 2011, capturing over 61 per cent of the vote, defeating Tiqui-Shebib by close to 15,000 votes.
