50th anniversary of Tims

Ancaster News

Melissa Gooch, left, Kelly Killovan, Kaylyn Pecaric and Eric Swan, who is holding the free 50th anniversary donuts, were among thousands of Tim Hortons employees and customers across the country who celebrated the coffee shop’s 50th anniversary on the weekend. The first Tim Hortons restaurant opened in Hamilton on May 17, 1964, inside a converted car repair garage on Ottawa Street North. The restaurant takes its name from founder Tim Horton, who, just weeks before launching the business, won the Stanley Cup with the Toronto Maple Leafs. | Lawrence Yanover photo
