A bottle containing two layers of liquid found in the Dundas Library branch Monday morning shut down part of Ogilvie Street to pedestrians and brought the police bomb squad to the Valley Town.
The suspicious bottle was “examined and neutralized” by the Hamilton Police Service explosive disposal unit. Police determined the item did not pose a threat, but Division Three detective are still investigating the incident and are asking for assistance from the community.
Police said they did not close Ogilvie Street to traffic, and only reestricted pedestrans from an directly in front of the library building.
No evacuation took place as the library is closed to the public every Monday. A janitor found the suspicious bottle shortly after 9 a.m.
A Hamilton Fire Service spokesperson said they were not notified of the incident and were not involved in the response.
