Stoney Creek Generals hockey club

Do you enjoy the sights and sounds of amateur hockey? Then come on down to the Gateway Ice Centre in Stoney Creek and cheer on the Stoney Creek Generals Senior AAA hockey team.

The Generals are playing their inaugural season in Allan Cup Hockey (ACH). ACH consists of six clubs — the Generals, Brantford Blast, Dundas Real McCoys, Norwood Vipers, Welland Whalers, and Whitby Dunlops.

The league’s top two teams square off in a best-of-seven series for the John Ross Robertson Cup. The winner will then compete with other Senior AAA clubs from across the country for the Allan Cup, Canada’s oldest amateur hockey trophy. The Brantford Blast won the Robertson Cup last year by defeating the Dundas Real McCoys.

The Generals are coached by Dan Caco. Caco has been an assistant coach with the Hamilton Bulldogs of the American Hockey League and the head coach of the Dundas Blues Jr. C Hockey Club. He also coached the Brantford Blast to the 100th Allan Cup title in 2008.

The team’s roster includes goaltender David DiGironimo, forwards Kyle McQuade and Kyle Zettler, defencemen Tony Iaquinto and Jake Guindon, and hometown players Myles Falasca, Marcus Roberto, and Nathan Pageau.

General admission tickets are $10. Tickets for children aged five to 12 years are $3 and tickets for seniors and students are $8. We also sell family passes (two adults and two children) for $24 and season passes for $100.

The Gateway Ice Centre, located at 610 South Service Rd. in Stoney Creek, is home to the 2014 Esso Cup, Canada’s National Female Midget Championship. Our arena features three ice rinks, a Don Cherry’s Sports Grill, a 5-Star Fitness and Nutrition Centre, and an ultramodern sports store called Goal Line Pro Sports.
