With power restored, Hamilton turns focus to cleanup

The City of Hamilton has shifted its efforts from power restoration to the extensive tree related cleanup efforts required to return the city to normal following last weekend’s ice storm.

As crews clear downed trees and branches, residents are asked where possible to leave branches at curbside for pickup. The city says trimming trees that do not pose an immediate hazard and the collection of branches may take several weeks.

Bag limits in Hamilton are being suspended for the Dec. 30 garbage collection week. Residents are reminded to dispose of any spoiled food in their green cart bins.

Anyone who has not yet called in a forestry or tree-related issue can call the city’s customer contact centre at 905-546-2489. Additional information can be found on the the City of Hamilton’s website and by following @CityofHamilton on Twitter.
