More than 70 people showed up to the first in a series of Butterfly and Bird Identification Walks and events at the Urquhart Butterfly Garden.
On Saturday, Aug. 17 at 11 a.m., guide Matt Mills will once again share his vast knowledge of native species in a walking tour of the garden between Desjardins Centennial Park and the Desjardins Canal in Dundas. The event will also feature a program for children not interested in the full half hour of walking and discussion
On Thursday, Aug. 22 the garden hosts a presentation on how to have a thriving garden without chemicals,
“The Urquhart Butterfly Garden is an ideal location for a workshop on organic growing,” said founder and co-coordinator Joanna Chapman. “The garden has been chemical-free all 20 years of its existence – an example of what can be achieved when you garden with nature, not against her.”
Sapphire Singh, chair of the local chapter of Canadian Organic Growers, will conduct the introduction to chemical-free gardening workshop.
