Think local with Tastes of Ancaster cookbook

Ryerson University journalism graduate Erica Scime  will be on hand at the Ancaster Farmers Market tomorrow, July 9, to sign copies of her 40-page cookbook titled Tastes of Ancaster.

Scime said the cookbook features “a little bit of everything” — from soups and salads to main courses, side dishes, baking, desserts, drinks and jam preserves. All the recipes use fresh food from farmers’ fields and backyard gardens, and have been tested on the kitchen tables of Ancaster residents.

Along with a few of her own recipes, the cookbook includes contributions from Scime’s family, friends, local farmers and well-known chefs Jeff Crump and Patrick Truax.

The farmers market runs from 3-7 p.m. behind St. John’s Anglican Church, 272 Wilson St. E. Scime is expected to be on hand starting around 5:30 p.m. Cost of the cookbook is $10. She returns to the market again on Aug. 20 and 27.
