Jaclyn Hickey and her son, Nolan, 15 months, of Ancaster explore the water gurgling from one of the Ancaster spray pad’s equipment. Children quickly took advantage of the opening of the $400,000 project when the water was turned on during the Heritage Days festival. For more photos from the festival, turn to page 3, 20 and 49.

Spray pad under repair

Hamilton officials are scrambling to repair Ancaster’s spray pad after it blew a three-inch line and flooded the area twice over the last few days.  Councillor Lloyd Ferguson has met with city staff and the contractor to determine how to fix the popular Village Green spray pad.

“It sounds like a water pressure problem,” said Ferguson. “It’s the worst time for it to happen during one of the hottest days of the year.”

The spray pad, which opened last year,  is still under warranty.
