Salvation Army rings in the season of giving

The Salvation Army will ring in this year’s Christmas Kettle drive Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the new Wal-Mart on Mohawk Road at Upper Sherman.

This year’s goal is $600,000. The Salvation Army uses the money for programs and services across Hamilton and Burlington.
“Throughout history, bells have been used in celebration and as a call to action,” says Major Gary Brown of the Salvation Army. “The Christmas Kettle bell is a celebration of the season, and a call to help The Salvation Army to offer hope and dignity this Christmas and throughout the coming year,”
Volunteers are still needed to assist in the manning of 57 kettle locations throughout the region. The drive ends Dec. 24 and the Army says it will need thousands of volunteers to attend Kettle locations across the region.

For information, or to volunteer, call 905 521-1660, or visit www.salvationarmyvolunteers.com.
