Ancaster resident Ashley McCalmont grew up at the racetrack and never looked back.
She followed in her father’s footsteps and started racing cars in her late teens.
McCalmont used to spend most weekends going back and forth from Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, previously known as Mosport, as she honed the art of racing.
She turned professional at the age of 20, and quickly made her way up the ranks in the racing community.
But as McCalmont began moving forward in her career, her races took her farther from her home base of Ancaster.
For the first time in more than seven years, McCalmont will return to her old stomping ground as she competes in round seven of the IMSA Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge.
“I am really excited to be racing back in Canada,” said McCamont. “I spent much of my childhood and early racing years here at the Canadian Motorsports Park.”
McCalmont is coming off of a top 10 finish in Watkins Glen and is determined with her skill and expertise at this track to make it to the top five, if not a podium finish.
McCalmont has a new sponsor for the race, Hamilton Port Authority. They will be bringing over 50 spectators via coach to help bring Hamilton to the track
The race takes place on July 12.
