The Red Hot Jazz and Cool Blues series continues to aid in warming up your winter with concerts planned for Jan. 25 and Feb. 1.
Presented by the Hamilton All-Star Jazz Band and community partners, the Alex Dean Quintet takes to the stage at Old Firehall Arts Centre, 334 Wilson St. E., Ancaster, at 8 p.m. on Jan. 25.
Known as one of Canada’s foremost jazz saxophonists, reedman Dean has played with numerous legendary bands, musicians and ensembles during an outstanding career as a musician, clinician, artistic director and jazz educator.
Recently named one of Canada’s Top 5 Female Jazz Singers, Barbra Lica’s debut album entitled, That’s What I Do, was released with a live-to-air concert celebration on Jazz.FM91 in May 2012. Lica performs regularly throughout the area and presents a wide repertoire of both jazz standards and original music.

Hamilton All Star Jazz Band is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year. Proceeds of the Red Hot Jazz and Cool Blues series contribute to efforts to provide high-quality cultural experiences for residents and businesses in the Hamilton area and beyond.
The Red Hot Jazz and Cool Blues series continues on Feb. 8 with Oakland Soul featuring Darcy Hepner and Feb. 22 with Hamilton All Star Jazz Band.
