Grade 3 student Linnea Bernard proudly waves a Canadian flag at St. Luke Catholic Elementary School last Friday. Students and staff gathered for a special assembly outdoors to celebrate Canada Day, the end of the school year and beginning of summer.

Hamilton celebrates Canada Day

Hamilton residents are invited to watch the fireworks and join in a full evening of activities on Tuesday at Bayfront and Pier 4 Parks from 6-11 p.m.

In the event of rain, festivities will be postponed until Wednesday, July 2.

Enjoy more than 10 local food trucks serving up Southern barbecue, Greek specialties, vegetarian cuisine, poutine, grilled cheese, tacos, hot dogs and ice cream. Local entertainers will perform throughout the parks starting at 6 p.m. Activities include face painting, balloonists and more.

The fireworks display will start at 10 pm and will be launched from the north-west point of Bayfront Park.

Complimentary HSR shuttle bus service starts at 6 p.m. from John Street (just north of King Street) to Pier 4 Park.

Face Painting and Balloonists 6-10 p.m.

Trulee Odd Show (Roaming the park) 6-9 p.m.

Aerial Performances by Hamilton Aerial Group 6:30 and 8 p.m.

FREE Secure Bike Parking Service provided by provided by Open Streets Hamilton. SoBi Hamilton is the non-profit local operator launching a bike share system later this summer in Hamilton. For more information on the system and to see the map, visit www.sobihamilton.ca
