Ottawa’s Monkey Junk will headline the second Hamilton Blues and Roots Festival, June 7 in Westdale Village.
The free, family friendly festival runs from noon to 11 pm.
Self-professed purveyors of Swamp Roots Rock, Monkey Junk won the 2012 Juno Award for Best Blues album.
Also on tap is Jesse O’Brien, who will bring some experienced hometown blues chops to the festival, with special guests Steve Strongman and Chuck Jackson (Downchild).
Other performers include blues legend Harrison Kennedy, Constantines frontman Bry Webb, Banned from Heaven with Laura Cole, Mark McNeil and Steve Simmicks, and members of the Hamilton Blues Society.
In addition to main stage performers, buskers, including Matthew de Zoete, will roam Westdale Village offering extra entertainment. Westdale merchants will also be out in force, along with some of Hamilton’s food trucks.
