The folks at First Choice Martial Arts know first-hand how lucky Hamiltonians are to have one of the world’s best children’s hospital right in their backyard.
Two of their students — Tiny Tiger Liam Gibson and Little Dragon Caydance Geroux — became best friends while fighting for their lives.
Liam and Caydance met before their second birthdays when they were admitted to McMaster Children’s Hospital. The children are each battling their own forms of cancer and have leaned on each other during chemotherapy treatments.
As a means of saying thanks for their care and raising funds for the McMaster Children’s Hospital oncology unit, Chris Gillam and First Choice Martial Arts have planned a Kick-a-thon that will take place from Monday Nov. 25 to Sunday, Dec. 1 during regular classes.
Those who would like to participate can go to www.hamiltonhealth.ca/first-choice. Join the team and begin collecting sponsors. The top fundraiser will receive a free martial arts party with 15 of their best friends that will include a movie, pizza and party time at the dojo. The runner-up will receive an official Century Powerline Wavemaster.
