Queensdale reconstruction in home stretch

After more than a year of work, the reconstruction of a long section of Queensdale Avenue is nearly complete.
The final layer of pavement is expected to be put down on the central Mountain road on the stretch between Upper Sherman and Upper Wentworth by the end of next week.
“They should be done in the first week of September,” said project manager Tim Evans.
It marks the end of a $3-million project that included water main replacement, sewer work and road reconstruction that began late last summer.
The section between East 24th Street and Upper Wentworth began in 2013; the rest of Queensdale east to Upper Sherman was done this year.
Similar work on Queensdale west to Upper Wellington began this year and should be completed in December, said Evans.
