CRIME STOPPERS: Thief took advantage of car keys left in ignition at gas bar

Police are investigating a car theft that took place on Aug. 26 at the Pioneer gas station on the east Mountain.
At about 1 a.m., the victim went inside to pay for his gas when an unknown male used this opportunity to jump into the victim’s car. The keys had been left in the ignition. While inside the store the victim heard his vehicle squealing its tires and then saw it being driven away by the suspect.
The victim attempted to chase after his vehicle at which time he observed the suspect travelling eastbound on Fennell Avenue at a high rate of speed. The vehicle was last seen turning around, travelling westbound on Fennell before driving south on High Street.
It is believed that the suspect was seen hanging around the gas station parking lot prior to the vehicle being stolen.
The suspect is described as white male with dark short or buzzed hair, wearing a dark T-shirt and dark shorts.
The victim’s vehicle was recovered a short time later.
