Film festival screens award winners

Ancaster Film Fest screens Short Term 12 starring Brie Larson at 1 and 7:15 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 20. Doors open at 12:15 and 8:15 p.m. 

All Is Lost starring Robert Redford in a likely Oscar nominated performance folows at 4 p.m. Doors open at 3:15. Screenings tale place at Ancaster Silver City. Non-members pay $9 at the matinees and $10 at the evening screening.  Proceeds go to the Hamilton Out of the Cold program. From the last screenings, $1,000 was donated to the program.

All Is Lost is an open-water thriller about one man’s battle for survival against the elements after his sailboat is damaged at sea. 

Short Term 12 is told through the eyes of a twenty-something supervisor at a foster-care facility for at-risk teenagers. 

Passionate and tough, Grace is a formidable caretaker of the kids in her charge – and in love with her long-term boyfriend and co-worker, Mason. 

But Grace’s own difficult past – and the surprising future that suddenly presents itself – throw her into unforeseen confusion.
