The always entertaining, never-boring brush with celebrities continued last month for Ancaster businessman Ken Wayne and his wife Pam.
The Waynes dined in Las Vegas with the cast of the hilarious television sitcom Everybody Loves Raymond.
“They were amazingly nice,” said Wayne. “Monica Horan , who played Amy on the show, was very funny and treated us like family.”
The Waynes’ star-studded lunch guests also included actors Ray Romano, Brad Garrett, Doris Roberts and Patricia Heaton, Loraine Alterman Boyle, who is the wife of the late Peter Boyle, and the show’s creator and writer Philip Rosenthal.
“It was very interesting talking to Rosenthal,” said Wayne. “He told us how the writers would brainstorm in coming up with ideas for the show.”
For the past couple of years, Wayne has bid on and won various charity auctions that involve one-of-a-kind opportunities to hobnob with the rich and famous. So far he has rubbed shoulders with such acting A-listers as Tom Hanks, Rita Wilson, Jon Cryer and Ed Asner, musicians Sir Paul McCartney, Sting, Paul Simon and the rock band Chicago and race car drivers Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Ryan Newman,
Because he is known as a bidder, Wayne said he is e-mailed information from a variety of sources. He bids on about two of every 10 items he is sent.
“I do a lot of these experiences,” said Wayne. “It’s really fun and I really enjoy doing it and I believe in the charities that are being supported.”
Next up on the Waynes’ star-gazing agenda is meeting the rock group Heart and NASCAR’s Danica Patrick, along with having dinner with Jason Alexander of Seinfeld fame.
