The Dundas EcoPark gateway plan has earned a thumbs-up from the Canadian Urban Institute.
The plan is among the finalists for a Brownie Award, which recognizes leadership and innovation in urban renewal.
Nominated in the financing, risk management and partnership category, EcoPark faces competition from the CIBC Pan Am and Parapan Am Athletes’ Village in the Canary District of Toronto and the Downtown/West Harbourfront Remediation Loan Pilot Program in Hamilton. Winners will be announced at a gala dinner on Oct. 23 at the annual Canadian Brownfields conference at the Westin Harbour Castle in Toronto.
The Hamilton Conservation Foundation’s EcoPark plan includes acquiring key natural lands and restore the former Veldhuis property on the Desjardins Canal.
