On Friday, Sept. 27, close to 500 Grade 4 students will examine fossils, study minerals, perform weather experiments, “cookie mine” and learn that earth science is fun.
The program is just one of the many exciting features of the Ancaster Gem, Mineral, Bead & Jewellery Show. Visitors will see huge geodes full of amethyst crystals, petrified wood formed from ancient trees, 250 million-year-old trilobites and natural crystal specimens in every imaginable colour and shape. The jewelry is designed and created almost exclusively by Canadian jewellery artisans.
Fabulous Fossil Facts and Dinosaurs! are among the free seminars being offered during the weekend event at Ancaster Fairgrounds
Fabulous Fossil Facts by Bob O ‘Donnell, The Fossil Guy includes a mammoth tooth, Dino eggs, Dino droppings (coprolite), trilobites, petrified wood and fossil ammonites, while Dinosaurs! by Alex Nelson, Club Rex invites participants to view the world 65 million years ago.
