Dundas dog leads Hamilton attack

The Hamilton Jr. Bulldogs helped turn the AAA Minor Atom playoffs on its ear with a stunning performance during the playdowns in Milton last weekend.

After two gutsy wins in the round robin, the Bulldogs managed to squeeze into the finals and a matchup with the league’s top team, the Burlington Eagles.

The Dogs gave up the first goal, but then took over with three unanswered tallies, two from the stick of Matthew Stone. Burlington battled back to within a goal, but the Bulldogs weathered the third period with some big saves from goalkeeper Nolan Verado to hang on for the 6-5 victory. Other Bulldog goals came from Liam O’Dell, Jacob Craft, Tyler Mulholland, and the game winner from John Alward.

Dundas native Jacob Maillet paced the Bulldog attack over the weekend with five goals and five assists, including a two-goal effort in a 4-3 victory over Brampton.
The Bulldogs look to defend their OMHA championship at the Mohawk Quad Pad in Hamilton this weekend.
