An owl who has lost his hoot is on the prowl in Lynne Kittredge-Fox’s sixth children’s book.
Owl on The Prowl is the Dundas author’s second collaboration with illustrator Joan Krygsman, and she hopes children will enjoy reading about an owl who recruits his friends to help him find the hoot within his heart.
“I hope young readers will enjoy the cute tale celebrating the art of teamwork and how, when we use it, the results can make our hearts very happy,” said Kittredge-Fox.
Owl on The Prowl follows on the heels of Jungle Valley Jamboree with Krygsman, The Grand Abyss Princess and The Mighty Moon King with veteran Canadian rocker Tom Wilson and Meatball Love and The Spaghetti Tree, written with Kittredge-Fox’s young daughter Mecca.
A self-published author, Kittredge-Fox has donated hundreds of her books to schools, hospitals and libraries and to countries as far away as Nairobi and Thailand.
She said she is very happy that her books have met with such success, thanks to the encouragement and support of the community.
For her own part, watching children’s eyes light up is the most rewarding aspect of writing.
“I like knowing, if only for a moment, my tale created wonder in children’s eyes, sharpened their listening skills and created a happiness that usually shows in the form of a smile. It’s the ultimate happy face — mine and theirs,” said Kittredge-Fox.
Kittredge-Fox. along with some of the musicians featured on her A Mighty Tribe CD, will be appearing at this year’s Telling Tales literacy festival, Sunday, Sept. 14 at Westfield Heritage Village. For a complete schedule go to tellingtales.org
