Auditions for the Canadian National Tap Dance Team attracted some of the best dancers from across Canada vying for a position to represent Canada at the world level. Two local teens, Mackenzie Gallant, 13 and Connor Nicklin, 17, have been chosen for the junior and senior team, respectively.
Mackenzie has been dancing for 11 years and Connor for seven. They are members of the Dancemakerz competitive dance team as well. Mackenzie and Connor are thrilled to have been chosen for the team and look forward to the competition that awaits Germany. Athletes from 50 countries will compete Dec. 3-7 at the IDO world tap dance championships.
To help with some of the costs associated with traveling to Germany, 16 families within the Canadian Tap Dance Team are hosting a comedy fundraiser at Studio 54 in Burlington on Sept. 14. Tickets are $10. Doors open at 8 p.m. with the show starting at 8:30. A raffle, 50/50 draw and silent auction will be featured, along with plenty of dancing after the show.
