The Ancaster Village Heritage Business Improvement Area has hired their second executive director in less than a year.
Bob Wilkins, chair of the BIA, confirmed the organization hired Jennifer Mattern, who is replacing Tyler Ferguson, hired last Nov. 1, but resigned a few months ago to pursue his own on-line food business, the Farm Network.
“She has an excellent background in advertising and marketing,” said Wilkins.
“We had a tough time making a decision, but we think she is perfect for us.”
Mattern, who lives in Ancaster, is scheduled to begin her new job this week, said Wilkins. The BIA received about 40 applicants for the position.
“We feel pretty good we have the right person,” said Wilkins. “We had a lot of very good applicants.”
The BIA is also looking to hire someone to manage the Ancaster Farmers Market. Ferguson was hired to handle both positions, but Wilkins said in an earlier interview the farmers market position is a year-round job that requires searching for vendors and preparation work. Wilkins’ partner, Karen Wilkins, a member of the BIA, has been overseeing the farmers market operations. The BIA was forced to search for a replacement last year when Leah Higgens, executive director from 2009-13 decided to step down.
