Barrel sales capture first spring rains

Dundas in Transition is accepting pre-sale orders for a Truckload Rain Barrel Sale, Saturday April 6, St. Mark’s United Church, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Rain barrels are $50 each and funds raised will support The Rotary Sunrise Garden at St. Mark’s.

Last spring, Dundas in Transition partnered with the Sunrise Rotary Club of Dundas and St. Mark’s United Church to construct a community garden. Twenty-four plots, manned by volunteers, produced fresh food for the Salvation Army Dundas Food Bank. Another 24 plots were rented to local families. Proceeds from the sale of rain barrels will provide funds to both Dundas in Transition and St. Mark’s United Church to cover the costs of operating the community garden.

All orders must be placed online in advance at www.RainBarrel.ca/DundasInTransition or by calling 905-628-8574.

As well, in association with the Ancaster Lions Club, RainBarrel.ca is accepting advance orders for a Truckload Rain Barrel Sale scheduled for Friday and Saturday, March 29 and 30 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Ancaster Fairgrounds, 630 Trinity Road South. The event is part of the Ancaster Lions Club Spring Craft Show. The rain barrels are $50 each.

Rain barrels capture and store rain water collected from roofs through downspouts. They provide chlorine-free and fluoride-free water which is ideal for flowers, vegetables, lawns, shrubs and trees. Collected water has a number of other uses including washing cars, cleaning floors, laundry and more.

These many uses can provide cost savings and conservation opportunities for every homeowner, especially those who pay to have water trucked in, use a well or have a water meter installed.

All orders must be placed online in advance at www.RainBarrel.ca/Ancaster or by calling 289-775-0782.
