Auctioneer Jane Delguidice takes bids.

Auction gets a flurry of attention

It was a colourful and successful night at St. James Anglican Church in Dundas when a few hundred interested buyers attended a charity auction.

Some of the items offered for sale were a highly prized Joan Miro-signed etching which fetched a bid of $2,600 and a sterling silver chalice that went for $2,000. Proceeds from the eveniing — more than $25,000 — will go to the church’s ongoing mission and ministries. Professional auctioneer Jane Del Guidice of Whitehall Auctions donated her services, and while the budget for advertising was limited, the scope of the antiques offered for sale brought international attention, with bids sent in from as far away as Europe.
